CEL Partner Request Form

The Student Success Centre at Western University is dedicated to working with our community partners to create partnerships that are of mutual benefit. We offer a number of programs that are designed to facilitate partnerships for engagement between Western students, staff and faculty and our local and global communities.

The following form will let you inform us about the work your organization is doing and the ways Western may be able to engage with your organization and your work. Once the information about your opportunities to engage have been reviewed, we will contact you to discuss a partnership. Please note that we will do our very best to find the best way to engage with your opportunity, but we cannot guarantee that all projects will be able to be undertaken by those programs affiliated with The Student Success Centre.

Format for Engagement
Our community engagement initiatives take many forms. In order to help us determine the best fit for this project/engagement opportunity for our programs, please let us know whether you would be willing to engage with the following engagement formats (check all that apply):
Community Service Learning (CSL) courses - This form of CSL integrates service to non-for-profit community organizations with specific course curriculum. CSL courses emphasize values of service in community partnerships and incorporate intentional reflection activities to help students achieve deep learning. A typical structure for CSL courses requires students to engage with community partners individually or in groups for a minimum of 2 hours per week for a duration of 8-10 weeks in an academic term.
Community Engaged Learning (CEL) courses ? This form of CEL integrate service to the community with specific course curriculum. Students are able to provide service to both not-for-profit and for-profit organizations. The hands-on, practical experience in the community allows students to gain a deeper understanding of course content as it applies to local and international contexts. A typical structure for CEL courses requires students to engage with community partners individually or in groups for a minimum of 2 hours per week for a duration of 8-10 weeks in an academic term.
Community Service Learning Network (CSLN) - This form of CSL allows for integrating specific knowledge and skills that our students have into various forms of service, including one-time events, on-going placements and projects. The number of students engaged with your organization through the CSLN will depend on your specific needs. The project-based approach allows for a multidisciplinary team of students to engage in solving a specific problem or providing a specific service to your organization. Past projects have included Communications and Marketing plans, Sustainability assessments, Social Media models, etc.
Western Serves - Happening annually on the third Saturday of September, Western Serves engages over 300 of Western's staff, students and faculty in 3.5 hours of service with a variety of non-profit host organizations. All projects must engage a minimum of 5 volunteers in order to help us with the logistics of the program.
This project is very flexible and would lend itself to many forms of engagement with many different programs or groups on campus.
